( Homebred 2010 Chocolate Cuckoo Large Fowl cockerel )

The original Cuckoo Orpington LF was bred and introduced by William Cook’s daughter Elizabeth Jane in 1907 not many years after his death.
Apart from the standard Cuckoo colour all solid colours can be created in a cuckoo variety .

( Chocolate Cuckoo cockerel 6 weeks old )
The Chocolate Cuckoo large fowl cockerel is only carrying a single barring gene that he inherited from his father.
As the Barring gene is sex-linked dominant to be pure for this gene his mother would have to have been barred and she was solid Chocolate.

But he has inherited two copies of the Chocolate gene, one from his split Chocolate father and one from his Chocolate mother.
